Ingredients
  

  • Fresh mushrooms white button or portobello
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs plain or panko
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Clean mushrooms thoroughly and remove stems. Preheat oven to 450°F or heat oil in a pan or deep fryer to 350°F.
  • Set up three bowls for dredging: one with flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder; another with eggs and milk whisked together; and the third with breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan cheese.
  • Coat mushrooms in flour, then dip in egg mixture, and finally press into breadcrumbs.
  • For baking, place breaded mushrooms on a baking sheet, spray lightly with cooking spray, and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • For frying, carefully place breaded mushrooms in hot oil and fry for 3-5 minutes until golden brown. Use tongs to remove and drain on kitchen paper.
  • Serve hot with desired dipping sauce.
