- 4 cube steaks pre-tenderized
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup crushed saltine crackers
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper optional
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs beaten
- ½ cup buttermilk
- Vegetable oil for frying
- For gravy:
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- ½ tsp ground black pepper
- Salt to taste
Preheat oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C).
Tenderize cube steaks if necessary using a meat mallet.
