- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil if needed
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup Dr. Pepper soda
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp chili powder optional for heat
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- 4 –6 hamburger buns toasted
- Optional toppings: sliced pickles shredded cheese, coleslaw
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic; sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
Stir in Dr. Pepper, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
Reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and flavors meld.
Spoon mixture onto toasted hamburger buns.
Add optional toppings like pickles, cheese, or coleslaw. Serve hot
