Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 cans 28 oz each crushed tomatoes
  • 1 lb pork neck bones or ribs optional
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Sea salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté onions until soft. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  • Brown ground beef, pork, and sausage in the pot.
  • Deglaze with red wine, simmer briefly, then stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and pork bones.
  • Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and add oregano, red pepper flakes, and bay leaves.
  • Simmer for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Add fresh basil and salt to taste. Remove bones before serving.
