Ingredients
  

  • 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour or bread flour
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup cornmeal

Instructions
 

  • Activate Yeast: Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy (5-10 minutes).
  • Mix Dough: Combine flour, salt, and oil with yeast mixture. Knead until smooth (10-15 minutes).
  • First Rise: Cover dough and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled.
  • Shape: Punch down dough, shape into logs, and place on a cornmeal-dusted baking sheet.
  • Second Rise: Let shaped dough rise for 30-40 minutes.
  • Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Cool before serving.
