- 12 oz ground beef
- 8 oz Italian sausage
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 2 cans 28 oz each crushed tomatoes
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cheese Filling:
- 16 oz ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg beaten
- Pasta Layers:
- 12 lasagna noodles cooked al dente
Prepare Meat Sauce: Sauté beef and sausage in olive oil. Add onions and garlic, cook until soft. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
Make Cheese Filling: Mix ricotta, Parmesan, mozzarella, egg, and oregano in a bowl.
Cook Noodles: Boil lasagna noodles until al dente, drain, and set aside.
Assemble Lasagna: In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, and cheese mixture. Repeat layers, finishing with sauce and mozzarella on top.
Bake: Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden.
