Ingredients
  

  • Short pasta e.g., fusilli
  • Fresh broccoli florets
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Olive oil or extra virgin olive oil
  • Butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Lemon zest
  • Lemon juice
  • Reserved pasta water
  • Fresh herbs e.g., parsley
  • Optional: onion powder

Instructions
 

  • Boil salted water in a large pot and cook the pasta until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water.
  • In a sauté pan, heat olive oil and butter. Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant. Add broccoli florets and stir.
  • Pour in reserved pasta water to create a sauce. Add the pasta, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Toss until well combined.
  • Adjust seasoning if needed. Finish with fresh herbs and more cheese if desired.
  • Serve hot.
