Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cans 14 oz each crushed tomatoes or fresh ripe tomatoes (blended)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese optional
  • Fresh basil leaves chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion and sauté until softened and golden.
  • Stir in garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in crushed tomatoes and stir well.
  • Season with sugar, salt, pepper, and oregano.
  • Simmer uncovered on low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in heavy cream and butter until the sauce becomes creamy.
  • Add Parmesan cheese for extra richness, if desired.
  • Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
