- Flank steak or sirloin: 300g thinly sliced
- Broccoli florets: 200g
- Soy sauce: 1/4 cup
- Hoisin sauce: 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar: 1 tablespoon
- Honey: 1 tablespoon
- Garlic: 3 cloves minced
- Ginger: 1 tablespoon grated
- Green onions: 2 chopped
- Sriracha or red pepper flakes: 1 teaspoon
- Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon
- Water: 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar or Shaoxing wine: 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil: 1 teaspoon
- Canola oil: 2 tablespoons
- Salt: to taste
Toss sliced beef with cornstarch.
Heat canola oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook beef for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, sauté garlic, ginger, and green onions briefly.
Add broccoli and a splash of water. Cover and steam until tender.
Return beef to the skillet.
Mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, honey, and rice vinegar in a bowl.
Pour sauce over beef and broccoli. Stir gently.
Add cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce.
Sprinkle with red pepper flakes and drizzle with sesame oil.
Serve hot with rice or noodles.
