- 250 g pasta spaghetti or penne
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 400 g canned crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese optional
Boil water in a large pot, add salt, and cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add minced garlic and chopped onion; sauté until fragrant and golden.
Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.
Add crushed tomatoes, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
Simmer the sauce for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss until evenly coated.
Garnish with fresh basil and grated Parmesan before serving.
