Gordon Ramsay Steak Pie

- 2 lbs chuck steak cut into chunks
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 carrots diced
- 2 cups beef stock
- 1 cup red wine or Guinness optional
- 2 tbsp tomato purée
- Salt pepper, and flour for seasoning and coating
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Pastry dough for the pie
- 1 egg for egg wash
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Season steak with salt, pepper, and flour. Brown in olive oil and set aside.
In the same pan, sauté onion and carrots. Add tomato purée and red wine or Guinness. Simmer briefly.
Return beef to the pan, pour in beef stock, and simmer for 1.5–2 hours until beef is tender.
Roll out pastry dough and line a pie dish. Add beef mixture, cover with pastry, seal edges, and make a small slit.
Brush with egg wash and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and crispy.
